Hey guys! just for interest sakes, its the Motatapu Icebreaker 50km High Country Mountain Bike race today (Saturday 8th) through Shania's high country station in New Zealand! Its a huge event here in N.Z. and I wonder if Shania is in town for it again like last year? We are sure to hear about it if she is :D. Anyway thats my little thing for today! Take care
Thanks very much for sharing. It's kind of neat that these outdoor events take place partially on part of the Lange's massive land estate.
Recently, Hardy Hemphill of Shania's band has mentioned the Lange's were in NZ and had a visit from another fellow band member Cory Curko. So one never knows???
Yes it is kind of neat 2nd but as I am sure you already know there was much anti shania uproar when the permit to build was registered...One of the MANY conditions in the approval was to allow events such as this take place on this massive piece of land... To think that Mutt and Shania would have ever just offered this gesture to the public is WAY out there.. Especially when one considers their issues with privacy, security etc....Bob
That is true. Not sure how Mutt and Shania truly felt about this, probably not too happy. They did it only as a condition so they could obtain the property. With all that money the Lange's should give back to the community.
They were actually very good about it when they lived in upstate New York. They poured big donations to the local school districts, police department, fire department, ect. The local fire company pretty much had a new house and new trucks and engines thanks to the Lange's, but in the end the local municipality tried taking advantage of them, ridiculous building permits and whatnot. Mutt mostly was fed up and Shania I'm sure wasn't happy about it either. That's too bad, a real shame. They tried to be good local citizens.
The ugliness of rich and famous moving into normal average towns.
So with NZ I think there is some approach to give as well from the Lange's. Otherwise they could have not accepted it and tried else where. I know NZ was not too thrilled will all these rich people from foreign countries coming in and buying up large properties, so it was just another concern. Although according to sources the locals were warming up to the Lange's becoming neighbors, only local authorities were not fully. Seems people in town say the Lange's are nice, lol.
