The hero worship of "captain marvel" Chesley B Sullenberger - or "Sully" as he is known to his friends - has reached the internet community.
Within hours of miraculously landing his US Airlines plane on to the Hudson River in New York with the loss of no lives, a page dedicated to praising his efforts was set up on social networking site Facebook.
Posts range from a simple "Amazing - you rock!" and "You are the man!!!!" to calls for the Congressional Gold Medal of Honour to be awarded on the 57-year-old.
Many of those leaving messages used the word "hero".
George Worthington, from New Jersey, posted: "Not only did you land the plane safely, you walked the plane twice to make sure there was no one left on board. You are a true hero."
For others, even more hyperbolic language was needed.
Laura Warren from Jefferson City, Missouri, wrote: "You are the most amazing person on this planet right now. You get my vote for man of the year."
"How do I book on your next flight?" another Facebook user asked.
Others jokingly noted that lady luck must be shining down on Sully.
"Well done captain, great job. Now can you pick up next week's Powerball numbers for me?", said one post.
