Shania Twain has been rumored to be working on new music for the past several months. And now the singer-songwriter reveals she wants to take her music to an entirely new audience.
"I would like to visit people, perhaps desperate in sensitive areas, and bring them comfort through music," Shania tells the Tribune de Genéve (for a translation, click here and input text). "I imagine something very simple, acoustical."
The Canadian native, speaking at the ninth charity gala for the Swiss Red Cross (for which she serves as an honorary patron), spoke out in response to an increased focus by the organization to work with countries suffering from poverty, including India, Bangladesh and Bolivia.
After taking some time off to deal with the unexpected split from former husband, Robert John "Mutt" Lange, the multiple Grammy-winner is moving full-speed ahead. In addition to a new album and proposed tour, she's also launching her own TV show, 'Why Not? With Shania Twain' on Oprah Winfrey's new network, OWN.
Dear Shania, we love you to death, and have stood by awaiting your return for sometime now.....patiently I might add. And to hear about your concerns for people who for the most part have NO idea who you even are. What are you thinking? Help them? By all means, but that has nothing to do with music.
I'll be the first one on line at a store to buy a new CD, but you need to concentrate on your fan base first. It's going to take all of your energy to leap past ALL these young turks who have taken your style of music and run away with it. Taylor, Carrie just to name a few.

(RTTNews) - Shania Twain says she wants to give concerts to less fortunate fans around the world. In a recent interview at an event for the Swiss Red Cross, Twain says she could see herself going to impoverished nations for simple, stripped-down performances.
"I would like to visit people, perhaps desperate in sensitive areas, and bring them comfort through music," Shania told the Tribune de Genéve. "I imagine something very simple, acoustical."
Twain is also making recent headlines after inking a deal with Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network for a new reality program titled Why Not? With Shania Twain. According to a report from People, the show is set to debut in 2011. She is also reportedly at work on her long-awaited follow up to her 2002 release Up!. The Canadian star also released a greatest hits collection in 2004.
Hi Chris, I agree with you completely. Even though she doesn't tour in my Province I would love to have a CD with some new music.
Come on, Shania, help out the disadvantaged all you want but give your fans something too.
Its just a thought in her head to help people who are disadvantaged and she's probably writing and recording music about it. Remember, she also was also disadvataged when she was young. I know you guys want new music very badly, so do I, but just take a deep breath.
what exactly does this article mean?? is she actually gonna put on stage concerts or just sit around a bunch of disadvantaged people and play her guitar..
