Shania still a mainstream artist?

When Shania releases her new album, do you think we can expect her to release singles like previous albums to play on all stations?

Not if they're anything like "Today Is Your Day." If they are, Shania will have a big problem getting airplay on ANY radio station. She HAS TO be competitive with today's female Country artists to have any success which means more of a pop/mainstream sound which is when Shania is at her best.

If Shania releases a new album I think she needs to choose between a really pop sound for her next album, one that is cutting edge so she can go up against the Rihannas and Katy Perrys and Beyonces or go the complete opposite direction and release one more like her first album "Shania Twain".

I would bet that going more traditional country would be smarter. Besides Madonna, pop is a young woman's game.....Shania will be closing in on 50 for her next album and not many pop fans will want to latch onto a 50 year old female pop singer. Country fans do not care about age as much and I think she would have a much easier time going to thecountry route.

Also, how is she going to handle the sex image in videos that she liked to project. You just cannot be flashing your stomach after a certain age without looking desperate. If she wants to compete in the sexy young pop world, she would have a hard time. I think the country route is better for her. Plus, I like her twangier country stuff better.

Yeah I agree. She should go back to country. Suits her better. I just watched What Made You Say That the other day and had really good memories about her. Her voice was phenomenal.
