On Nov. 18, NBC and E! announced the five-time Grammy-winning singer will receive The Music Icon Award during the Dec. 6 PCAs ceremony in honor of her record-breaking four-decade career and everlasting impact on the music industry.
And we're feelin' alright because in addition to receiving the award, Twain will take the stage to perform a medley of her greatest hits as well as her new song "Waking Up Dreaming" off her sixth album Queen of Me, set for release on Feb. 3, 2023. It will mark the country star's first return to the People's Choice Awards stage since 2005 when she won Favorite Country Female Singer.
"I'm so incredibly honored to be named Music Icon," the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" singer said. "I have some of the greatest fans in the world. They have supported me since the early days, and it's their love and passion that keeps me going. I'm thrilled to go back on tour and bring my new music and fan favorites to them, and what better way to start than at the People's Choice Awards!"
Cassandra Tryon, SVP, Entertainment Live Events, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, added, "Shania has paved the way for many multi-genre artists throughout her impressive career as the ‘Queen of Country Pop.' Her music has withstood the test of time and her fans have multiplied over the years. We are delighted to honor her with this award, and can't wait to see her perform some of her greatest hits."
With five albums released and more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, Twain remains the top-selling female country pop artist of all time. Her timeless hits include ear worms like "Any Man of Mine," "That Don't Impress Me Much" and "You're Still the One."
In 2021, Twain kicked off her second residency in Las Vegas called Let's Go!, which sold out and continued through September 2022. In July 2022, Netflix released Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl, a brand-new, career-spanning documentary on Twain's life and career.
Hosted by Kenan Thompson, the 2022 People's Choice Awards air Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 9 p.m. on NBC and E! from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
Live from E!: The 2022 People’s Choice Awards will kick off the night with a red carpet special at 7 p.m. ET/PT on E!.
Shania Twain to receive Music Icon award at 2022 People's Choice Awards
The “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” singer will also take the stage at the ceremony.

Country-pop hitmaker Shania Twain is set to receive a huge honor at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards.
As TODAY announced Friday, Nov. 18, the Canadian singer-songwriter will get the coveted Music Icon award.
“I’m so incredibly honored to be named ‘Music Icon,’” the 57-year-old performer said in a press release about the upcoming accolade.
And since the People’s Choice Awards has the rare distinction among entertainment honors of being selected by fans, Twain also took the opportunity to rave about the support she’s received from her own devoted listeners.
“I have some of the greatest fans in the world,” she continued. "They have supported me since the early days, and it’s their love and passion that keeps me going.”
When the country pop icon appears at the People’s Choice Awards, she won’t just be there to take her trophy. She’ll also take the stage to perform a medley of both her greatest hits and her latest single, “Waking Up Dreaming” — a track from her yet-to-be released album “Queen of Me.”
The performance will give fans a taste of what's to come when Twain hits the road for her Queen of Me tour in April of 2023.
“I’m thrilled to go back on tour and bring my new music and fan favorites to them, and what better way to start than at the ‘People’s Choice Awards!’” Twain said.
The "That Don't Impress Me Much" singer's performance at the People's Choice Awards will mark her first return to the PCAs stage since she won Favorite Country Female Singer in 2005.
Speaking on behalf of the PCAs, Cassandra Tyron, senior vice president of Entertainment Live Events at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, noted the important impact Twain has had on the music industry.
“Shania has paved the way for many multi-genre artists throughout her impressive career as the ‘Queen of Country Pop,’” she explained in the press release. “Her music has withstood the test of time and her fans have multiplied over the years. We are delighted to honor her with this award, and can’t wait to see her perform some of her greatest hits.”
The 2022 People’s Choice Awards will be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and will air on NBC and E! on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
I think with the Christmas special coming up, Beauty and the beast and people's choice awards I actually think the promotion is perfect for her new album, I expect a new single in January and potentially she might attend the grammy awards. She says more new music coming soon? Could Beauty and the beast the song she sings be released to promote the movie? Maybe a brand new single? She has all of January to promote the queen of me album before it comes out in February. Much better promotion then now. I don't think she's doing much country promotion on the record seeing how it's pop. These new songs will be well liked on the tour anyway and I expect album sales to do okay, it's 2022 times have changed. She doesn't need radio but I expect more announcements and promotion of the album to come in January with a brand new single. Just maybe she releases a Christmas single soon. Hard to tell.
Tommy, do you think this promotion will do anything for her WUD single? Or do you think it will take more than just one performance to do anything?
Apparently she isn't even performing the entire song. It will just be included in the medley she is doing. WUD has been hanging around between No. 14-16 on the Billboard AC chart. I don't expect it to climb much higher.

Kelsea Ballerini is such a huge Shania Twain supporter and a big fan. This woman admires Shania.. They May sing Hole in the Bottle When she opens the Nashville show, It would make sense. So will Shania get the Icon Award first and then sing or be introduced then sing then accept the award. Also how much Airtime will she have to sing? 5 mins maybe 10?

I read somewhere that Shania will receive The Music Icon award first and then perform. The medley is probably 5-7 minutes.

I don't have cable anymore so I cannot watch it live. Noooooo lol. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow when they post it on YouTube (assuming they do).
During the 2022 People’s Choice Awards on Dec. 6, Shania Twain received The Music Icon Award for her countless hits and contributions to the industry. (See the complete list of winners here.)
When accepting her trophy from Billy Porter, the 57-year-old expressed how much of an honor it was to have impacted fans from multiple generations.
“My wish is to always inspire people with my music,” she told the audience. “I always miss my mother at these moments in my life. She would have loved watching her little girl living this moment right now. My fans, my friends, my team, you are the ones who really fill that space…You have made me feel loved and special my whole working life and I’ll always be grateful for that.”
According to Shania, the biggest honor for her is knowing “people have found strength” in her lyrics and work in the music industry.
How freaking awesome was she??? Sooo pleased she sang live. Loved the outfits, the hair, just so so good. Great to see the crowd really into it as well. Congrats Shania x

Wow... was last night a dream @peopleschoice ?? Thank you for this award, thank you for calling me an icon!! It's really still so wonderful to feel like you have created a legacy, like your contribution to the world has been meaningful in some way. Thank you. ❤️ #PCAs I have to confess... accepting this straight after running around 3 different stages performing my hits wasn't easy... If I had a DeLorean time machine, I would go back and tell young Shania to write more ballads and use less damn words girl!!! 😂
Pink hair.... pyro... kick-ass women! I was living my best life on the @peopleschoice stage!! Thank you to the whole team who worked on this performance with me and to Chris Horan, Glenn Martens and @DIESEL for bringing the heat with my stage looks!! 🔥
Red Carpet looked amazing, I am pretty sure that was a wig but looked beautiful. She sang live 100% and sounded good. Her Face doesn't look as swelled up like in previous years and she looks very fit. Honestly she was the show and Ryan Reynolds was so cute how he smiled at her. Two Canadians and she might have even asked him before the performance to say his name like that just out of respect. Kelly Clarkson knows Shania has vocal troubles and to see her loving it was also great. Carrie Underwood really seemed to love it. To me this was her best live vocal performance in years. I find when she sings with her guitar solo it seems harder on her voice then when she sings upbeat songs. Tommy was it live? Did you dig the look and what was your opinion of everything. I always like when you give input because your just as big of a fan or perhaps the biggest fan with the dedication you put into this page. Personally she looks better now than in recent years and she sounded amazing. I didn't feel she was lip syncing because it looked as live and we'll put together. Honestly the awards show gave her the time she needed to be introduced with the Icon award and performance and acceptance speech. Perhaps it's time for other awards shows to follow suit and start giving her these major awards. I look at Come On Over and it was the album that changed country music and to this day and decades too come her Songs will never fade especially Man I Feel Like a Woman. She's making loot of that song and always will. You see many songs are hits today on the radio but those hits tend to be forgotten but Man I Feel like a women will always be a power anthem. Personally the song is bigger today then it was when it first came out. This is the song that doesn't matter what age, what sex, what religion, and what race will always be a powerful song whether you male or female or whatever. The song will be around 100 years from now. This awards show proves to the industry and I hope country music specifically sees this that she doesn't need radio no more. She's a living legend and the awards show made her feel the the queen she truly is. I have a feeling she will be singing more live on this new tour then the last. I am not saying she won't use backup for some songs but some will be live. We know she has vocal damage but the fans don't care. New album and a massive tour. 2023 will be a big year for Shania. I don't care about the hits anymore I just want that Album because I know it will be good and when people get it they will see how amazing it is. Shania doesn't want a boring concert she's ready to party and after last night I know this tour will rock. Now Shania let's release another promo song so I can dance through the Christmas Holidays. once again Tommy thanks so much for the hard work and effort you put into this page and letting us fans comment whenever we want. You sir are the best and I am obsessed with this page because anything Shania related and you are on top of it to let us fans know. Keep up the amazing work.

Great Job too the crew for cutting out the part where Shania Twain fell down during Anyman of Mine Walking up the stairs, got up quickly but I just seen the video on YouTube. She was definitely singing live, It was so fast she was down and up again within a few seconds.
Right at the beginning as soon as she started singing She fell down before she went on stage, the first few words and she was holding the microphone which she didn't drop, Her dancer helped her up so fast it didn't make it to the live part because it happened so fast before she was on stage like within a few seconds. I seen a small fan clip of the video and a small few people did comment on her and said she took a hard fall but too me it was dark and she probably missed the stairs. It was recorded on someone's cell phone. I am sure eventually Tommy or someone or myself will find the video and share it that's if it wasn't taken down. Like I said at the very beginning singing any man of mine she fell down but it was literally from my watching the Video was a fast fall and quick get up. I am surprised it wasn't recorded but my feeling was they skipped it while it was live and because she wasn't visible the live camera couldn't catch it or they cut it out. Regardless she wasn't hurt and the video is somewhere on YouTube if it wasn't taken down. 100. % she fell down and luckily wasn't injured. I should of copied the video but even I was shocked I scrolled past it. Regardless I am not making it up search hard enough someone will find the video eventually. Regardless it was an amazing performance!
Wooo I'm still on a high from @peopleschoice! The reaction has been incredible. To be declared an icon is just... surreal, humbling... empowering! I feel empowered! I wanted my performance to reflect that and celebrate… myself, not in an egotistical way, but in celebrating my power, of walking my own path, of being brave! This industry is intimidating! Life generally can be intimidating - You just gotta stay strong and always remember your power. I've carried that message through my whole working life and I sure ain't stopping now!! My new album reflects exactly that. Embracing your individuality, trusting your gut and drop kicking down those doors! You be the queen of you, i’ll be the queen of me ❤️

Ryan Reynolds Says Shania Twain Saved Him From Embarrassment at the People’s Choice Awards
The actor had the cutest reaction to *that* viral moment from the 2022 PCAs.
By Devon Forward | Parade | December 18, 2022
Recently, Ryan Reynolds connected with a First Nations school in Ontario, Canada, for an interview with the media club there, and he revealed a lot in his long conversation with school student chief Derek Monias of Sandy Lake First Nation.
One of Monias' questions for Reynolds during the interview was, "What do you think about Shania Twain changing the lyrics of her song using your name instead of Brad Pitt?"
The question referred to a moment at the People's Choice Awards on Dec. 6 that quickly went viral, during Twain's performance of her hit song, "That Don't Impress Me Much."
At first, Reynolds joked, saying, "Well, I think we can all agree, it's about time."
But then he revealed that it was beneficial for him as, at that moment, he was extremely nervous about giving an upcoming acceptance speech. After Twain, 57, called him out, it took away some of his anxiety.
Reynolds, 46, told Monias, "I was not expecting that...Because I, like a lot of people, get very nervous when I publicly speak. You know, and I have to stand on a platform, and it's also just odd because you're winning an award."
"Maybe it's because I grew up in Canada and I sort of tend to rely on laughing at myself as a defense mechanism, but in those moments, you have to be pretty gracious. And when you're accepting an award like the Icon Award, I didn't know...I just felt the whole thing was a little embarrassing," he admitted.
But thanks to Twain, it was easier than he expected.
He said, "So when Shania called it out, I was so grateful because it took the tension out of my body in a good way, made me think of something else for a second."
Reynolds continued: "So then I went up and gave my little speech, and it went better than I thought. So sort of, in a weird way, I have to thank Shania Twain for that."
At the 2022 People's Choice Awards, Reynolds was presented with the Icon Award, introduced by Free Guy co-star Lil Rel Howery.
