More info on Shania's comments

Otago times said Shania is on idefitnite sabbatical and laughingly declined to sing.
Not only does indefinite mean no timeline so it could mean anytime she could end her sabbitical. Also it was a joke because they asked her to sing something and she laughing said she is on idefinite sabbatical.
so it is very possible that Shania is working hard on new music and it wasn't the time or place to talk about it.

Yes, I saw this:

"Twain is on an indefinite sabbatical from her music career and laughingly declined to sing."
Otago Daily Times, New Zealand - Mar 13, 2008

But that's not how it was originally reported.

The original report:

Petite Twain, 42, wearing a baseball cap and bright orange sleeveless vest, smiled graciously and answered questions.

Had she walked the track?

"I have not," she said sheepishly, with a giggle.

"I look forward to it."

How has she found New Zealanders?

"Very good. I find the people very respectful and kind."

Is a musical comeback on the cards?

"I'm on a permanent sabbatical."

Would she sing?

No, but she helpfully suggested the Prime Minister might instead. (Much to everyone's relief, she did not.)

The sabbatical comment was not in response to the question of would she sing right then and there, it was in response to the musical comeback question - a question about her career.  The Otago Daily Times write-up seems to mistakenly combine two unrelated questions.

Unless this original report is wrong.

You are wrong, I saw that newspaper too but they never asked her about a musical comeback. The person who wrote the article added it in himself.
Shania did not say permanent and her comment was in response when they asked her to sing.
Unless you see and hear actual video tape of the exchange they you don't know.
But it all seems like a Shania type joke and blowing them off because this was not the time or place to talk about music or sing.

If it's in a newspaper and Shania is quoted, I'm posting it on my site no matter if it's iffy or not. Period! I'm sorry you don't agree how I run my website. (not really).

It's only "iffy" in some people's minds because it's something that they did not want to hear.  I guarantee you if the SAME EXACT SOURCE reported Shania saying "I love my fans and my new album will be out in November", many Shania fans would be taking that source as gospel truth and would be estatic about this "scoop".  So don't blame Tommy.

I don't blame Tommy for reporting something if it was in a newspaper.
It is his site and he could do what he wants.
But I do object to you saying that it is only iffy because it is not what people want to hear. It is iffy because it was an off the wall comment and was reported differenty in different newspapers. there is no such thing as an original articles as you claimed. There were 40 media people there from different newspapers who gave their own spin on things.
So it is 100% iffy. We all know Shania is writing and recording and she made things very clear her intentions in December.
Don't act like you know the truth because of one Shania comment that you dont' even have a clue the context it was asked in.
Do you honestly think she would say she was writing and recording all last year and just 2 weeks ago tell her band members she was busy with making music.
Don't you think you and I were making way too much of this off the wall comment in New Zealand at a hiking track media scrum?
Do you honestly think she isn't working on music when she has made it clear she was over and over again?
I am the first one to call her a liar if she isn't but even I decided to give her the benifit of the doubt because I know how Shania says things all the time in the wrong context.
We will see new music soon I beliieve and that is not wishful thinking, that is what I believe.

Nice of you to come around for a change.

You really blew up on this one when it was first reported and as usual started blasting away and did your babbling.  Wise up Walter and calm yourself down.

I haven't come around. Shania still has mislead and lied to her fans.
Until we hear something more official then we know nothing at all. I am only reporting what her management said and they have been saying the same thing for years.
