A couple of months ago I brought the story to this site on the ongoing situation on Henry Morgentaler,(abortionist) being named to The Order of Canada. I stated in the corner my opinion on this. Shania being of course a member of the Order has sat low on this issue but many other members of this Order of Canada have returned their award in protest. I thought I should make a factual post as to what has happened since my earlier post. 100 Canadian Members of Parliament have demanded the appointment be cancelled The Government has recieved over 30,000 petitions of protest Thousands have rallied in protest on the street 56 perecent of Canadian when polled are against this naming to the Order .
Well it looks that it went of deaf ears as Mr Morgentaler has just been awarded his Order Of Canada. Mr Morgentaler, members should know, is a canadian pioneer in this area as he took on the goverment YEARS ago and was jailed MANY times BUT was found Not guilty over and over. Keep in mind at this time abortion in Canada was ILLEGAL.. As the result of his relentless battle the supreme court finally ruled and abortion laws became LEGAL. It is because of this, the government felt he changed the canadian landscape forever and thus the award. I will leave it up to you folks to decide if Shania should take a position and return her award or not...Bobby boy
Shania was honored to get the Order of Canada and it was an award well deserved. I'm not sure if she would actually return hers, but in light of what's happened, maybe she should consider doing so.
I think that every woman has a right to decide herself whether she wants to become a mother or not, so I dont see anything bad in abortion. I consider it to be worse when it is forbidden and women do terrible and dangerous things to get rid of the baby. Sometimes they can kill themselves or desert the baby after it was born. And actually I will leave it up to Shania to decide if she should return her award or not because if her position is the same as mine I dont think she should do it.
