Sprig.com Rates The Top Vegan Celebrities

portman_sprig_vegan.jpgHeres a secret: theres only one thing that makes me happier than amazing vegan pumpkin pie. And that, my dear friends, is amazing vegan celebrities. Apparently Im not the only one that feels this way.  In fact, the good folks over at Sprig.com have rated a list of  their favorite vegan celebs and we think thats just dandy!

Because its hard to actually pinpoint who is vegan and not in Hollywood, earlier this year The Vegan Society reached out to Ecorazzi to help design a comprehensive list of confirmed vegan celebrities. As the resident vegan I took on that project and I think its safe to say that Sprig did a pretty good job. There were, however, a few blunders.

On the list, Sprig includes Andre Benjamin and Shania Twain two celebs who are currently believed to not be vegan. In March of 2008, Andre told Pittsburgh City Paper that, Im not totally vegan now I eat fish occasionally. Then in September of 2008 he confirmed with Rolling Stone, Besides, Im not totally vegan. I still eat honey and wear leather.

Shania at one time called herself a sensible person and non-smoking vegan, but later reported that she doesnt eat meat, fish, or eggs. This left many to believe that dairy was still included in her diet. Finally, they included Tobey Maguire who Ecorazzi reported is mostly vegan except when he has to gain weight for a role.

there is adifference between 'Vegan' and 'Vegetarian',
shania consumes dairy products so she is only a vegetarian,not bad at allsmile

Shania Twain

She pulled herself up by her bootstraps after he parents were killed when she was 21. Helped raise her brother and sister and went on to sell over 50 million albums and become one of the top-selling female artists in history. "I think there's something odd about eating another living thing," Shania's said. The singer has lived in Swiss chateau with her soon to be ex, Mutt Lange, and engages in a clean lifestyle: no drinking, no smoking and eats a vegan diet though reports on the web question if she's just vegetarian and not fully vegan. Vegan/Vegetarian  the proof is in the non-dairy pudding: Shania is virtually ageless and beautiful.

Grade: B-

B- only eh? Strict list,

Well totally vegan is crazy in western culture if you ask me. No dairy? No cheese, ice cream, yogurt. How about butter? And no leather items? Baking without eggs?

Shania may say she thinks it is strange to eat another living thing, but before Mutt she was trapping animals without even thinking about it. And it turns out Mutt's not the good guy after all, lifestyle aside...
