I have been pondering who should produce Shania's cd and the name I keep coming up with is Dan Huff. Her cd would be more country to boot which would be nice. What is everyone else hoping in terms of the new producer and what kind of cd you hope she will come up with.
What you have to consider is that Shania has never leant herself towards one format i.e country and with her having an international career (which many artists only dream of), she's comfortable doing a blend of styles such as the pop-rock thing. So whichever producer she gets with now, has to understand where she is coming from and her need to stay versatile.
I would like that lulu, Shania should reach back to her country roots after all we are the ones who put her on the map, but she'll probably continue on mixing.
Shania shouldn't let anyone dictate to her what style her music should be and if she wants to reach as many listeners as possible going outside country seems the only way forward.
I agree 2nd Ammendment, the money in terms of cd sales is in the country genre. Apparently we are still buying cds instead of downloading (legally or illegally). That is why pop stars are trying to crossover into country. We buy cds and we like seeing our favorites live. I sure hope Shania goes back to her roots. Dan Huff would be a good choice to produce I think. The decision as to who will produce is shania's most important decision to make ....I sure hope she remembers her roots too. I loved twim cd as well as Come on Over. I really liked UP as well but it did not have enough country in it
I think no matter what she does, pop, country,or whatever, will be great.Anything at thjs point would be great. If she turned to heavy metal, lol, I'd still be forever a fan.Original fans usually don't just give up on Shania just because she does something different, or not so country!!! But, that's just me! "AN ORIGINAL FAN".
I don't think Shania would work with Dan Huff because he produces a number of Country Artists - Shania is original and would not use someone from the Nashville Network. I do however think that Shania would work well with Steve Buckingham (I think thats his name) if she wanted a country record. He worked on the Dolly tribute album and has worked with Allison Krauss and Dolly Parton. If she wanted to work with someone for more of a rock/pop album I think Brian Eno or Rick Rubin would be awesome. We'll see, maybe she's still working with Mutt?!?

Yes, I think Rubin would do well by her. A sort of combination country/rock cd. That would be great live. So far I have not heard any rumours regarding the next cd let alone who will produce it. Hopefully we will hear some rumblings early in the new Year.
I am very suprised by the News that Natalie Maines might be going solo. Have the Dixie Chicks split up....I am so suprised by this bit of news. Is it true?
Can't help you there, as I don't really follow the Dixie Chicks. But I know a lot of artists who are in successful groups like to take a breather and focus on their own solo projects (such as Beyonce with Destiny's Child or Fergie with the Black Eyed Peas) for a while. It doesn't necessarily mean the end of the road for the group.
Rick Rubin is a name getting thrown around a lot (it was quite possibly Roger from the STC board, who started this conversation). Some people are still convinced that Shania is still working with Mutt, even after what's he's done, and that she isn't interested in wanting to work with anybody else.
For some odd reason i wouldn't think Shania would want to be quite that close to "BUTT", after what he's done to her.I just don't see it happening, but I could be wrong! besides, there are alot of great producers out there. Hell, Shania might even produce it herself! I'm sure she's very capable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Living with Mutt 14 years and learning all his tricks; and having plenty of experience throughout her whole life in music, I think Shania would be very capable.
I am worried about all this stuff. I'd like her to continue to work with Mutt. There are examples in show business when a singer and her producer split but still work together because creatively they are good and successful combination (for example Sarah Brightman and Frank Peterson). If Shania fails with her new album, everyone will say that she is nothing without Mutt Lange. Because of different reasons one of which is Internet downloads of albums its impossible to sell records as much as Shania did in the past so its very dangerous to experiment now.
The world is dangerous. Mutt maybe a good producer but as a husband he failed to give Shania the gifts to love, honor, respect, and forgive her. I hope he remembers his other most important job he will ever have on this earth is to be a good parent. Shania is smart and I'm sure she has learned all of the tricks Mutt had to offer her musically. Her real fans will always stand by her whatever path she takes.
I'm not sure of his name but I think the guy who produces Rascal Flatts should help Shania produce music...Or even Shania herself could try:) I wouldn't doubt it if Mutt helped her though, that is, if they are getting along now.
I am really hoping for a great live album. Twim and COO were great live albums. I guess time will tell what road she chooses. I agree with everyone else in terms of Shania's ability to co-produce a cd. I think she is more than capable of doing that.
Shania will do the best job she can do and I think an an album in the style of Come On Over would be cool. Some people thought Up! was commercial fluff.
Enough talk, lets see some results. The clock is ticking and it will be 7 years since her last studio album. She has wasted so much time and talent to live a life of recluse and ignore her socalled passion and fans. Lets hope she meant what she said at the CMA and we will be seeing lots of her soon. Because if this is just another false alarm to tease the fans then I don't see anyone every believing a word she says again. I am just being a fan who is giving Shania the benifit of the doubt now and will wait and see what she does the next few months.
