Did Shania Twain Threaten to Quit Showbiz?

A close associate of legendary country star Shania Twain told IUC that the drop dead gorgeous singer wanted to quit singing for quite some time while she was married to producer/cheating hubby Mutt Lange.  Shania had had enough and wanted to devote herself solely to being a mom, the source said.

Well i know a lot of women that quit their jobs to stay home with their kids,and more would if they could afford to.

Not if music is their passion. Many balance career and children and raise great kids.
It is the paranoid ones who run away and hide that seem to  have marriages not work and kids grow up not  normal.

I can believe this. She just didn't seem to have the same passion and attitude she did on the UP run like she did before on COO, TWIM, and ST. I've said all along she seemed more content caring for Eja full time, being a mother, wife, family person.

So all the other rumors (the image destroyer ones) would have been hard to swallow.

Believing this would mean you believe she had no passion for music at all and can't handle a career and just one kid.
You don't just quit music after 2 or 3 cd's  unless you were only in it for the money.
Many woman have many more kids and have great careers and raise great families.

We just don't see it the same way about the whole role.

And she was definitely not fully 100% the same kind of Shania before her break in 2000 to after.

You are right she wasn't the same Shania but there could be alot of reasons for that. And I sure hope one of them wasn't that she had enough money now and  had no passion for music.
Maybe she wanted the direction of the music to be different wasn't happy with the UP cd and didn't have her heart in it.
But is sure as heck can't be because she had one kid. You don't just quit something that is your passion because of one kid. You  may cut down the work load  which Shania did(hasn't worked in 6 years) but you are always creating music and performing if it is your passion.
If you believe what Ian said then  you believe she was in it for the money and thats it.

I think you are both right on this deal about her not having the same passion as before but try to remember she's been traveling and doing the music thing since she was a little girl and she's always said that the performing thing was something she had to make herself do.  She always said she mainly enjoyed writing the most and would be more than happy to only do that.  Also I really don't think the move to Switzerland was as mutual as we have been led to believe.  Remember the rumors about the marriage being in trouble started around then and also the San Matt stuff is still a little weird and she never got into that stuff until Mutt took her to Switzerland.  I don't know I'm just saying, but she deserved to take time off and raise her child.  She also mentioned she only wanted one child because she didn't think that a child should have to share a parent's love with other kids.  Maybe as a child the other siblings resented her a lot becasuse of the attention that was lavished on her for the sake of her career.  I mean it wouldn't be unheard of for brothers and sisters to be so jealous of one another.  Maybe that's why she thought that she only wanted to have one child so she could give him all her love and attention and not have him suffer like maybe her brothers and sisters did.  Maybe the brothers and sisters gave her a hard time about it.  She's always said that her childhood was way worse than she's ever let amyone know because she didn't want to hurt the rest of her family by revealing all that personal stuff.  I don't know for sure just peiceing togther articles I've read about the things she's said. Can only be guesses and opinions like everything else because the only ones who know are the people involved.  Also remember one of her brothers saying in an interview that Shania had become like a robot.  I'm kinda like Kevy on thinking that there's been trouble in the marriage a long time and it has affected everything about her.  Maybe now that she's free and breaking out of the old shell she will be a new and even better Shania. Maybe she justs needs some new inspiration as a writer and a performer.  These deeply personal things she's going through will give her great writing opportunities and if not this album I think by the next one she will be different.  She still has a lot left to go through personally and this will determine what Shania we get to see in the future.

There may have been problems in the marriage but Shania stayed fiercely loyal to Mutt in every single interveiw she gave. She has always talked about how much she loved him. The Redbook article was full of those sorts of quotes and then a few months later Mutt asked for a divorce. There is a rumour going around that Mutt was involved with Marie Ann for years prior to the separation. Again all of this is speculation and assumptions. I think it is great news that Shania will be coming out with new music this year. I for one can barely wait.

Yes she was always fierce about her love for Mutt but we never heard him saying the same things. I know he hated all that fame stuff but you'd think he'd at least have friends who'd say how much he loved her or at least hear something about it. That's what makes it all so hard to comprehend. In the wedding photo she is totally gone for him and he's not even looking at her. It's a sweet picture. The look on her face says it all. How did they let that go? She talks about him in a lot of TV interviews also. She's so open about how much she loves him it's really hard to understand as I said. It's so sad and we will never know the whole story. He's the one who gave her the courage to believe in herself and her talent when no one else could or would. He had the strongest faith in her. He could see things in her no one else could. That is special no matter what anyone says and I'm assuming this is one of the many reasons Shania took it so hard. But I do believe there was trouble for quite a while. Maybe she was trying to save the marriage and he was lying to her pretending everything was O.K. when it wasn't. We just don't know.
