Maybe this is Carrie's way of giving props to Shania and her popularity. Her songs were very popular and have become very popular on the Karaoke scene. People already know most of the words to her songs so Shania karaoke is pretty common to do because of the popularity and the fact that as I said many people already know the words by heart and I think Shania has the type of sense of humor she would think it was funny. I tend to agree with Tonto. I think it is a testimony to Shania's popularity on the Karokee scene. Personally though I would have preferred that she not have mentioned Shania in her song.
I think when she says 'singing a white trash version of Shania Karokee' means that Carrie is trying to say that this women that her partner has cheated on her with is just 'white trash' and that this version of Shania's song is rubbish.
