Shania may be aiming to get an album out by the end of the year, but failing that, I think we just have to accept the fact it might not happen.

I meant if an artist has a goal to release an album a certain year then this artist works in the studio. Shania hasn't started working in the studio yet. If she stays true to herself then her music won't be something that can be recorded within some weeks like it can happen with R&B style, for example, because music mostly done on computer. Recording of music is a long process. She's not in it now. I don't think there will be an album this year. If she wants to release it in the end of the year she has to be back in studio already. But she is still writing. She doesn't even give any approximate information about when it's about to come out. It happened before - in 2007, in 2008 and in 2009. It will happen in 2010, too. I don't see any signs of an album coming out this year.

I understand what your saying. All I am saying that every artist is different. We are probably not going to know anything until its finished.

She doesn't say so. She says she's writing. As far as her letters are the only source... if it's not true then she lies. I could believe it is a lie but every year we hear the same truth from her "I'm still writing", every year we anticipate the new material and every year we get nothing. That is true. Time is passing for all of us so to dwell on what she is doing about getting a new album out is pretty much a waste of time and effort.

What impresses me about fans still posting about her and and websites still open and devoted to her is the effect she has had on people around the world with her music.

I have seen many fans write about what her music has done for them and meant to them. It is really profound to consider but bear in mind the same is true of many other singers in different times.

The only real difference is that back a ways there was no message boards or Internet to communicate closely with fans around the country and the world. You had snail mail fan clubs and magazines etc only.

It is an interesting phenomenon to behold especially for those in my age bracket. I got online in 2002 and before that had only been on the internet very sparingly at work and at libraries.

I guess if fans want to dwell on the negative aspect of no real word about new music they will continue to do so here or on other message boards - some Shania boards and websites have folded along the way as we all know and more will do so probably if the delay in new music continues unabated.

I am like the rest of you - in a quandary of sorts about what is really happening to delay things so long - aside from what we know - which is really just that she and Mutt split and may or may not be divorced by now and she is with Fred and seems happy and content with her life situation as it is now.

Not sure where I am going with this so I will stop now. biggrin

Shania has been in & out of the studio, but hasn't finished anything including the writing for the new album, but it's still a possibility that the album will be out late this year! Sources say, she is really taking her time with the writing to make sure she doesn't duplicate anything she has done in the past. some of the people that I've chatted with also say that this will probably be Shanias' last album, so she's trying to create something very unique! later!

I am just as lost as everything Shania, seems to be more quieter sort of strange, we dont know her intentions or anything, anymore even the people in timmins, i even know some of her family up here, that dont even know whats going on, what does that say, i really dont know anymore????

Well everything that Shania has done music-wise has been unique but I doubt the part about this album being her last. After all if she's passionate as she says she is, she wouldn't just want to walk away, especially not while she still has a fan-base and is in high demand and is enjoing what she does. Many artists' popularity fade when they're not in the public eye but Shania has maintained that interest. Music is her escape and it has helped her through a lot of struggle.

What I don't understand is how she can get away with putting out only five albums, including one greatest hits record, in a space of 19 years. Doesn't Mercury have anything to say about this? Does anybody know how long her contract lasts and how many albums she's committed to?

I honestly think if she doesn't do something this year in the form of music then her credibility is ruined. That's just my opinion.

At first she was commited to 5 albums so if you include GH - she released them! And we're not Mercury to know. She met Mercury Nashville's boss not long ago so who knows how they arranged that. I think if she HAD TO she would do something fast. And the reason why it takes her so long to do that makes me think that she has no deadline that's why she travels and wastes her time on nothing.

I'm thinking that because of her huge success Mercury is allowing her to do as she wants and when she wants. It's nice to know that she has recently met with the Mercury Nashville boss though, it sounds like something is surely in the works.

Too bad she and Mutt can't have a business relationship and carry on as before the breakup. I don't think of Shania as lazy, just doing stuff that she's wanted to do for a very long time. My big problem with is her is not telling the fans what's going on with her music and when we can expect something. She's been writing songs for a very long time so finding songs can't be THE problem.

And, no blog for March yet either. Maybe she's been put off by the negative comments made by fans regarding Fred's videos, her travels BUT no mention of when she will be putting out new music.

There's no news on the album front, according to her record label, but Twain raised her profile recently through her well-received stint as a judge on American Idol. Twain, 44, reassured her fans that she hasn't given up on music via a note she wrote from the Caribbean and posted on her website in February: “Many of the songs from The Woman in Me and Come on Over were written in the tropics, so it's a good place for me to be creative.”

She said she would not put pressure on herself but she also said that she was going to record new stuff this summer. So I think it's possible that the new album will be released in 2012. Otherwise, everything she's done this year is pointless.

I think she could possibly put the record out this fall! I mean "Today Is Your Day" is already falling off the charts so why not succeed this fall with a 2nd single and then to release the album?

I think for late 2012 the Album will be done, she sure took her time to make sure to give us the best she can offer with her talent and her voice conditions.

Actually if Mutt was producing, which I very much doubt, it would take a considerable time as he has a well earned reputation for being painstaking and obsessive in the studio. I've read a few articles about this man online from people who have worked with him in the past and he has driven some to distraction with his ways and getting the perfect record and sound. Like I said though, I get the impresssion that Shania and Mutt's relationship now is not even good enough to just be a working one. Shame really, but understandable I suppose.

I defintely do not think she lip-synchs entire concerts. But I saw with my own eyes (and heard with my own ears) that she at least had some type of audio assistance during part of the show.

To be fair that's one of the biggest perks of being very wealthy, the ability to work when you want or not at all even and having plenty of leisure time. I'm 36 and I'll probably have to work untill I am 65 and then probably be dead within 10 yesrs lol.Shania good as retired in her late 30's and I don't begrudge her that as she made her money and entertained alot of people along the way. It hasn't always been a bed of roses for her as we all know.

Sadly we'll probably be the last to know as well. Surely if things were planned for say a Christmas release then things would be very advanced by now.

Oh Up I missed your message! That's the first time I'm reading Shania lip-synched in a concert . I never had the chance seeing her live but I did read many reviews of the Up Tour and as far as I can remember, I don't recall people wrote she was lip syncing. That means or it rarely happened, or that I missed the reviews where it had been mentioned or let's go for the third option- it very obvious by that time she started to have problems with her vocals then I believe she needed this kind of a back-up (She sang over the recording) in case she won't have to cancel the rest of the shows or worst, the concert itself. I feel for her knowing she wants to bring the best from her to the fans, and in concerts is a Big-no for her doing the lip synced thing. I hope by now her vocals are getting better it might take lot of time until she gets them solid again, thanks.

Well we all know that the series was filmed last year, so the single "Today Is Your day" was more than likely recorded late to early this year, so in other news you know she has been working on this album even before the summer time. It's pretty obvious! I mean "Today Is Your Day" was not just released as a single for the show, but it was also getting her name back on the radio. She hasn't really had a big hit single since "Party For Two" and that rarely plays today, so she had to get something out just so stations could play it and then it gives fans who may have not heard her music in years a chance to say "Oh Yea! I remember her!" It's all a publcity stunt, just like the show was. It wasn't just about her journy, but it was also about her promoting her image, so when something does come out, that we all know that there is more than likely that her new album will make a huge debut! They never mean't for "Today Is Your Day" to be a big commercial success song anyway, because all they were doing was simply letting it get enough air play just so it can promote her image. Which is a good thing, because being idol for basically 10 years since the last release, you can't just randomly come out with a brand new album and expect it to do well, because you need some promoting of your image. Shania being at this years CMA awards also was another promotion of her image! It's all pure genious! I've heard by rumors, that there has been talk from the upcoming ACM awards board members, wanting Twain to perform live! I don't know if this is true or, not but I heard it locally on sirious xm radio early this morning! Maybe it's true! She did the same thing in 2001 when she performed "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" That was out of nowhere! She said in 1999 that she was taking a break and settling down, but in other words she was writing and recording during that time, so maybe this rumor is true!

Well I was kidding with that comment- It came out, that I heard the song before I managed to see her "Why not" series but reading about it, I knew the single had to do something with this series Ha. When the first episode of "Why not" aired Did you really think there is going to be any NEW single out there? I didn't, I admit. As much as I want to believe Shania, In retrospect it is quite clear they got the idea of this "Unplanned song" right from the start have no complains if they were sneaking in another one! Well yes, that's the job of the promoters I thought it was a smart idea to bring in those working scenes of a new song just in the middle of it.., among the goodie marriage at the end. It had the highest rating. But what now? I find it hard to believe she will do anything live before this year ends we need more new news here! smile

Well I think it's all just talk right now. I appriciate you alwaysafan! You always reply to what i post and it means alot! Sometimes I come on here to check and it's almost as if people don't even read what you put! But as for me, I heard Shania when I was 4 and 5 and now i'm 16...almost! So I never paid to much attention to her until I heard "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" on the radio early last year...so I have had my reasearch keeping up on her and her carreer and all the absenses she has had! Honestly I don't like her "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" or any of that crap lol...I'm a guy and I don't prefer to listen to girly music, but I do repect Twain in her music, because I know she has a unique sound that no one can compare to! In some cases I feel like her music that failed to reach number 1 didn't get enough air play! It's kind of funny how she has sold 75 million records and only was able to come up with 7 number 1 hit singles (All in the 1990's!) Seems like she got cheated out in my oppionion!

Hi Logan I hear you I think we can have here really nice conversations about Shania it won't be that bad to see here more responses and for a general note English isn't my native Language so it takes me double time just posting. Yes, she didn't do much in the recent years but it's not that she didn't do anything before ! like what ! We only need to have this real admiration for her (Most of us have it I hope) in order to get this lovely board on moving (I tried to do that when I have the time) Again.., I can only hope it gets better once she put out the new Album. She has her official FB page but there is nothing like a Fans board FB can't replace that.

I LOVE MIFLAW this song brings me such nostalgia I used to listen to it a lot and I mean a lot lol it's always a fun song to sing. Not everyone got to sell 75 million Albums, so it's better to look in the result that what that counts. The only ones who lost from the lack of promotion I guess were the potential Fans or anyone else who could have found her music to his like I'm sure she's proud to have Fans like you.

Yea I'm actually a little disappointed with all the people not being active! I mean I'm new here and I have been active more than most of the people! Butt then again until a new single is released or her name pops back in the tabloids, what the point if there is no new news to share or if there isn't anything new that has happened? I am tired of taylor swift, and reba gets on my nerves. It is time for her to get back to where she left off! If she can record music in a studio infront of people, she can sing live in front of people in a concert!
