Shania Twain – Michael Davidson Print Artist Michael Davidson began his career in 1992, completing works of family portraits and historic landmarks for 16 years. He has completed pieces that have been presented to Kenny Rogers and Englebert Humperdinck. Davidson has donated hundreds of prints to local charities and has taught thousands of children how to draw, becoming a well-known artist across Ontario, Canada. Currently, Davidson resides in Shania’s hometown of Timmins Ontario with his daughter. He works as a local police officer and continues to be a strong contributor to local charities. This drawing, completed in the summer of 1999 took over 100 hours to complete and was presented to Shania after a concert in her hometown.
Shania Twain – Still The One Cross-stitch - Donated by Debbie Smith This beautiful cross-stitch of Shania Twain was hand-made by Debbie Smith of Arcadia, California. A long-time fan of Shania, Debbie has created and donated a number of Shania-related stitches that have raised over $8,500.00 for charities close to Shania’s heart. This particular stitch includes 29 808 stitches and over 50 different colours of thread. One of Debbie’s other cross-stitches is part of Shania’s personal collection. I just noticed something. Shania's show is at 7:30p.m. and the fundraiser is scheduled for 9:00p.m.. So that means the show is only about 90 minutes long?

Yup! Her shows get more expensive and shorter! Lucky fans. At least the fans with money will enjoy her Vegas shows.....perhaps Shania is a Republican after all.....
I just hope they plan to film a DVD/BD for this because there's no chance I'll be able to make it there. Would be good to have a new DVD to watch, although I'm still gutted that the companion to the Greatest Hits collection was only Up! Close and Personal and not the equivalent set of videos. Yet to see a video collection that truly follows up to The Platinum Collection.. but I digress.
Hoping to see videos pop up here and there, though I have a feeling there will be little to none with restrictions in place...
Welcome to the board Tracy! Please forgive us for the rude posters. There are a lot of super Shania fans on here! Looking forward to seeing what else you do with Shania Kids Can!

If you followed Shania Twain's career at all then you already know she didn't have it so easy as a kid. She has never forgotten what it was like to grow up in poverty and has taken great care over the years to support organizations (like Breakfast for Learning) that endeavour to ensure kids from all walks of life can get the most out of their school experience. Sometimes that's as simple (or difficult) as having access to a healthy breakfast and fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Now Shania has created her own organization so she can dig in and help kids directly on many different levels. It's called Shania Kids Can and she is offering you the chance to come help her to celebrate and raise funds right after her Shania: Still The One kick-off show in Vegas on Dec. 1! (Details on how you can attend this exclusive after-party below...)
...Schools participating in the program create a Shania Kids Can Clubhouse where kids can go without judgement to learn, make friends and experience empowerment.
Shania says that her personal experience was instrumental in the creation of Shania Kids Can because she understands what the kids are going through.
"I can personally relate to the effects of growing up with difficulties at home and understand the problems kids can face while trying to fit in with the other students who are not experiencing the same disadvantages in their personal lives.
The Shania Kids Can program aims to help educators identify children in this situation and provide a safe, productive, confidence-building environment where the kids are coached in good and appropriate behavior, taught practical life skills, assisted with homework, given an ear to just simply listen when they need it.
The space provides healthy socializing and a chance to fit in without feeling judged for how they dress, what their grades are, who their parents are or how much money they have, but more for who they are on the inside.
I feel luck saved me from falling through the cracks as a child and believe it's neither wise nor fair to leave the destiny of any child to luck."
The fundraising "after-party" in Las Vegas will be hosted by none other than Shania herself! Here are the deets:

well, I know for certain, that I'll be going to the fundraiser! It's sort of like dessert after the main course! Get you tix while you can, don't be disappointed. Where else can you spend time with Shania while she talks about something near and dear to heart, mingle with the band, be in a small group............it's going to be awesome!
Shania Twain raises $45,000 for her charity before attending after-party
By Robin Leach | Posted December 4, 2012 • 2:31 p.m.
Before she reached her premiere party Saturday night, singer Shania Twain had an important first stop after her debut at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace. She placed her charity Shania Kids Can ahead of any party and raised $45,000 for her program that builds a better future for disadvantaged youth.
The meet-and-greet with supporters raised more than $20,000, and then husband Frederic Thiebaud and she conducted an auction that raised another $25,000. He told me later that they intend to set up a branch of the charity during her Las Vegas residency so that underprivileged local children can benefit -- probably through one of Andre Agassi’s school programs.
Shania escaped poverty and neglect while growing up in an abusive household in northern Ontario. She said that she often went to school without breakfast or lunch and no money.
“My classmates had cleaner clothes, freshly washed and brushed hair and healthy teeth. After several days of not eating properly, I would just stay home from school to avoid the discomfort of seeing the other kids enjoying a nicely prepared meal. … I knew that I had to escape and break free of the dysfunction. I went through school concerned about being ridiculed for being inferior.
“I promised myself early on in my own childhood that some day I would help kids just like myself cope with their disadvantages and prosper in spite of the challenges. Kids Can is fulfilling that promise.” After her mother and stepfather were killed in a 1987 car crash, Shania cared for her two half-brothers.
“I can relate to the effects of growing up with difficulties at home and understand the problems kids can face. I feel luck saved me from falling through the cracks, and my reason for creating Kids Can is to prevent underprivileged children from falling through them. It’s unacceptable for us to stand by and watch any child in this modern society suffer right before our eyes.”
Shania was given an engraved 3-liter bottle of red wine from friends at Keep Memory Alive to celebrate her premiere. “I confess I took some sips to toast for good luck before going onstage,” she laughed.
Robin Leach has been a journalist for more than 50 years and has spent the past decade giving readers the inside scoop on Las Vegas, the world’s premier platinum playground.
Shania Twain kicked off her new Las Vegas show, "Shania: Still the One," to a packed house on Saturday night (Dec. 1). The singer, who is back in the spotlight after a lengthy hiatus, began her two-year run at the Colosseum Caesars Palace on a high note. But before celebrating the rave reviews she earned for the opening-night performance with an after-show party, the global superstar took time a special meet-and-greet to benefit her Shania Kids Can program for disadvantaged youth, raising a total of $45,000.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that Shania supporters helped raise $20,000 for the charity during the meet-and-greet with the star. An additional $25,000 was raised during an auction conducted by the singer and her husband, Frédéric Thiébaud, who told the newspaper that the couple plan to set up a Las Vegas branch of the Shania Kids Can program to benefit underprivileged children in the area.
Acknowledging the impoverished, difficult conditions under which she was raised, especially after her mother and stepfather were killed in a 1987 car accident, and she was left to take care of her younger siblings, Shania said, "My classmates had cleaner clothes, freshly washed and brushed hair and healthy teeth. After several days of not eating properly, I would just stay home from school to avoid the discomfort of seeing the other kids enjoying a nicely prepared meal. ... I knew that I had to escape and break free of the dysfunction. I went through school concerned about being ridiculed for being inferior. I promised myself early on in my own childhood that some day I would help kids just like myself cope with their disadvantages and prosper in spite of the challenges. Kids Can is fulfilling that promise."
Now that she has her first few Vegas performances under her belt, Shania says, "The show is very fun for me. I was a bit worried that we were staying in the same place. Was I going to lose that edge? But I've never had a show this exciting before." (quote via People magazine).
Shania adds that, surprisingly, she wasn't nervous before the big night, thanks in part to her husband of nearly two years. "I cannot live without him. I need that support. I just need what we have. It grounds me every day and reminds me that there are a lot of important things going on in the world ... He keeps it all in perspective."
