Deerhurst Resort presents "A Touch Of Broadway" (1990)

Deerhurst Resort presents "A Touch Of Broadway" (1990)

PICTURE QUALITY: This video is the best I could do with severely degraded, twenty-two year old source footage. It was digitized off VHS tapes, originally shot on a consumer-level analog 8mm camera. The wide shot camera's auto-exposure was often confused, so you'll notice the picture going dark then bright from time to time. The two camera angles were from different nights (different months!).

The audio was saved from a board mix of the show's closing night -- yet a THIRD different performance from the two video sources. Given all these different performances I tried to put together, some audio sync may be out here and there but ALL LEAD VOCALS WERE SUNG LIVE. All background vocals were pre-recorded. The live band was only a five piece with heavy sequence layering for the large orchestrations the show required.

Production staff:
Producer: John Kim Bell
Associate Producer/Asst Choreographer: Arleen Sugano
Choreographer: Sam Viverito
Musical Director, Vocal Coach, Arranger, Orchestrator: George Guerrette

What a find!!!

And things that instantly pop out at me:

--she always had an amazing stage presence

--her voice sounded amazing

--she is a bad dancer!! She was right when she said she could not dance!! lol Her moves during the pop medley bit are pretty bad! lol

--goodness SUCH a cheesy show she had to suffer through!! She must have been so grateful when she was saved from that place!

So awesome to see this!! Thanks Tommy!

Listening to her sing Wind Beneath My Wings brought a tear to my eye. Just thinking about the struggles she was going through with at that time. Beautiful.

Awesome footage Tommy! Shania was so young! What a life: at one point, she's in the Northern Ontario bush, tree planting and getting messy - then she's doing a Broadway style show at Deerhurst. And that was just the start of her roller coaster life!
