Hi! New user here. I have a kind-of strange "history" with Shania Twain.
I actually saw her perform at Deerhurst Resort in 1989. I was married at the time and my wife and I were living in Toronto and had decided to treat ourselves to a stay at the resort for our anniversary weekend in August. I'd also bought her a massage treatment at their spa, and two tickets to the cheesy little Vegas-style show that was playing there. Well, you fans know the rest. It wasn't until years later, probably around 1997, that we finally dug out the old program we'd saved from our weekend as a souvenir and confirmed that, sure enough, Eilleen had been part of the cast that night. I do remember there being a few cute girls on the stage, but can't say that she stood out to me above the rest (I did remember the skinny guy with the mustache, though, as he'd bugged me a little that night).
Well, fast-forward to 2015...
The SECOND time ever I will see Shania sing will be this month, in Nashville, where I now live. I hear her career went pretty well in-between! :D I only wish I'd seen her on her last two tours, but my wife at the time was (understandably) a little jealous and not crazy about us -- more specifically, me -- going to her show.
I have two questions for you fans out there...
1. Are there any specific sites I could visit here in Nashville that relate to her early years here? A house? A studio? Any place or restaurant she claimed to enjoy or frequent? I'm aware she had a love/hate relationship with this town, so maybe there's not much here that captured her heart, I don't know, but if you know of anything please reply with as much information as you can. I'd like to visit a few places that have a connection to her before I see this final show of hers.
2. My second question is, what do you envision as her most-likely future? Do you really think this will be her final tour? (I do, based on her voice and the changing times). Do you think she will largely vanish from public view, as she did before? Get more hands-on involved with the running of her charity for kids? Obviously she could comfortably retire to any one of her numerous worldwide residences never to be seen or heard from again, yet I'm not sure that's her personality either. I would love to hear your best guesses based on your knowledge of her.
