We played Montreux Jazz Fest last night. About 5 minutes after the show Trev, our tour manager says, ‘ @quincydjones wants to see the brass section downstairs now’. So down we go and meet Quincy Jones, and beside him is @shaniatwain . ***I think it's absolutely RIDICULOUS and SHAMEFUL the way Shania is always asking fans to spend thousands of dollars to meet her and donate to Shania Kids Can. How quickly she forgets she grew up without money and now she expects her fans to fork over their money which most don't have?!? Is she serious? SKC is her charity. Such expensive packages many stars offer. I thought Shania had them in COO and Up! era as well as it is a common practice. Only in this case she will donate the money to the charity and then to kids instead of just putting it into her pocket as it usually happens. As I could see those meet and greet things are always expensive even if the star doesn't announce he/she donates the money somewhere. So it doesn't really matter if she asks her fans to donate or just sells the packages. They are always expensive and it may be so to make that kind of experience special and not available for everyone as there would be hundreds of people wanting to get the meet and greet package. When it is hard to get there is no agiotage and it is easier to organize. So I think in this case only the "wrapping" has changed but the "candy" inside is the same. And it is not only Shania who does so.

It's the way a charity works. I don't think she counts on fans like us to spend so much - she's pretty interactive during her shows anyway and there are always lucky ones who meet her on stage. Off stage she counts on more wealthy people to support her charity. I don't think she expects us to give away the last money we have to meet her. Those who can afford it will do it, and we will just enjoy her show for reasonable price (which is also not my case as going to Vegas is too expensive for me but I'm glad she's active in music again).

Missing the music of @montreuxjazzfestival already – so many talented artists! I’ve been coming here for years. I was a personal friend of Claude Nobs, the founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, for many years before he passed. I have so many wonderful memories of evenings up at his chalet, meeting with all the performers and their friends - relaxing, chatting and cheers-ing ❤️

***The Fête des Vignerons (Winegrowers' Festival) is a traditional festival which takes place in Vevey, Switzerland. It has been organised by the Confrérie des Vignerons (Brotherhood of Winegrowers) in Vevey since 1797. The organising committee is free to choose how often the festival takes place, but the maximum number of times is five times in a century. Up to now, the interval between two festivals has varied between 14 and 28 years. The next festival will take place in July and August 2019, which will be 20 years after the preceding one (1999). The festival features a show celebrating the world of winemaking; many performances take place in the marketplace near the shore of Lac Léman, and festivities also take place in the town itself.
