Apparently from some websites the song will be sent to Country radio. Based on the clip it definitely has a new sound and hook. Plus he's a very popular and younger artist. It might not be a duet but a remake and Shania's writing credit is still good.

Yes, I'm sure "Boots" will be a hit and get radio airplay. This definitely is a song made for radio. As was "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under" back in the day.

The song's GREAT! Shania sounds good on everybody else's songs but hers. I don't really know why the producers who work on her projects over-produce her voice so much and I don't know why she lets them do it. I guess she's still insecure about her "new" voice.

This updated version is so catchy. I wouldn't be surprised if it crosses over on the pop charts. I can't explain it there's just something that tells me this is going to number 1 on the country charts in the USA and in Canada. Matt it right she sounds way better when she does duets.

"Boots" is not on this week's UK Top 100 Singles Chart. Not that I thought it would be.

I am so confused as to why it was released to Country radio in the UK but not Canada or the United States. The song is actually very catchy and radio friendly. Unless it will be sent to radio in the next week or so. I really and strongly believe this song has hit potential but I am so confused as to why it isn't getting played.

Shania Twain and Kane Brown Reveal How He Worked to ‘Manifest’ Their Collaboration on Playful New Single ‘Boots’ (Exclusive)

The song is a twisy response to Twain’s 1995 hit “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”

Thirty-one years ago, Shania Twain wondered just who her cheating lover was spending time with in the hit single “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” Now, thanks to Kane Brown, she’s finally got her answer!

The country stars have teamed up on the new single “Boots,” which twists Twain’s original song on its head and answers the titular question from the perspective of the lover himself — and as it turns out, it’s not what you think.

“I think it’s very well done in the sense that it’s kind of like a call and response, a continuation of the story,” Twain, 61, tells PEOPLE. “Lyrically, the intention was to make it playful and not offensive from the woman’s point of view. And I think [Brown] doing it in the same spirit was the right thing.”

The “You’re Still the One” singer co-wrote the original song, which was released in 1995 on her breakthrough album The Woman in Me. “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” was a song Brown, 32, grew up listening to — so when songwriter Josh Hoge sent him “Boots,” in which the man in the song insists that there is in fact no other woman, it was a no-brainer.

“I’ve been a fan of the Queen for the longest [time]. My mom was a huge fan, and I was a massive fan growing up, [being] raised by all women. So we heard Shania all the time in my house,” he tells PEOPLE. “I listened to [‘Boots’] and immediately just fell in love with the song. And then I just kind of tried to manifest Shania allowing us to do the song and getting her on the song.”

Luckily for Brown, getting Twain on board wasn’t all that difficult. The two first met years ago at an awards show, and when she hosted the ACM Awards in May, Brown — who performed at the show — knew it was his perfect window.

“I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to meet her again. She’s going to say that we can do the song,’” he recalls thinking. “And then she one-upped me and said she was going to hop on the song with me. So I was like, ‘Hell yeah.’”

Sure, his manifestation worked its magic, but it helped that the Queen of Country Pop was already a fan.

“I was a really big supporter from the very, very beginning,” she says, talking to Brown. “You just have a great voice and a very steady, calm way about you that’s very attractive. You’re so likable and easy to meet, which is good. And your voice is incredible. I love your voice, and I loved your voice on the song, too.”

It’s not lost on the pair that through the original song and its new iteration, they’ve managed to bridge a gap between generations, some of whom adore Twain’s original, and others who have only ever heard Brown’s take.

“I just want to thank you for carrying the torch, Kane,” Twain says. “I’m a songwriter first, and the songwriting is so critical… It’s all about the story.”

Brown, meanwhile, sees a kindred spirit in Twain, as he recognizes that they’re both “not scared to get boxed in” when it comes to genre and the type of music they’re making.

It’s an attitude he’s taking with him as he works on his next record, which will follow last year’s The High Road.

"I've always kind of tried to cater to the wrong people. Is it country enough? Basically the people that aren’t going to buy my records or listen to my music anyway, and I’m just now kind of realizing that,” he says. “I’ve gotten away from the slow type songs, even though that’s what got me started. I just don’t like playing them live. I’m just more energetic running around. So there’s going to be a lot of uptempo, head-bopping type songs.”

Twain, meanwhile, is staying plenty busy, too. She released her seventh album Little Miss Twain in July, and announced a new deluxe version of the record earlier this week set for release on Oct. 9. She’s also set to narrate the audiobook of a new recorded edition of her bestselling memoir From This Moment On.

“It’s not difficult to keep me inspired. There’s so many new ideas surfacing constantly that my head spins. We’ll never exhaust chord progression options or possibilities. The scales are infinite, and the lyric combinations are infinite. I lose sleep over this stuff!” she says. “I’m really easy to inspire. So staying creative is easy for me, it’s like lighting a match. From the creative side of things, there’s always a flame burning.”

Shania Twain dropped her seventh studio album Little Miss Twain earlier this summer. The project underperformed commercially and marked her first set to miss the top 10 on the Billboard 200. In fact, it failed to break into the highest half of the 200-space ranking of the most popular albums and EPs in the United States, as Little Miss Twain stalled at No. 131. The full-length also missed the top 20 on the Top Country Albums roster, where, theoretically, Twain’s latest should perform best.

Only a short time later, the celebrated country performer is back on the Billboard charts, long after Little Miss Twain disappeared. This time around, she scores a new hit alongside a genre favorite and manages to climb higher than ever before on one of Billboard’s most competitive rundowns.

Shania Twain Hits a New Career High

Twain reaches a new career best on the Digital Song Sales chart this week, and she comes closer than ever before to breaking into the top 10. “Boots,” her team-up with Kane Brown, opens at No. 13 this frame after selling a little more than 1,300 copies on platforms like iTunes and Amazon.

“Boots” lands several spaces higher than where “Party for Two” peaked more than 20 years ago. That collaboration with Billy Currington stalled at No. 15. Twain’s three other hits that have landed on the Digital Song Sales chart — “Waking Up Dreaming,” “Giddy Up!” and “Today Is Your Day” — all peaked in positions lower than No. 25, where the tally ends these days.

Kane Brown Has Scored More Than a Dozen Sales Smashes

Brown has performed significantly better on the Digital Song Sales chart than his collaborator. Out of 42 tracks by the country artist that have landed on the ranking – including quite a few that would not appear on the truncated roster today – 16 have broken into the top 10.

Brown has dominated the Digital Song Sales tally twice. He first reached No. 1 on his own with “For My Daughter,” and then several years later returned to the summit alongside his wife Katelyn with “Thank God.”

Shania Twain Scores One of the Week’s Biggest Debuts

Six tunes debut on the 25-spot Digital Song Sales chart this week, and Twain and Brown score the fourth-loftiest entry of that bunch. Miley – who now goes by that one name as opposed to Miley Cyrus – starts her latest release, “Bass Persuades,” at No. 2 behind Ella Langley’s unstoppable “Choosin’ Texas.” Blackpink singer Lisa launches “Sawadika” at No. 7, just ahead of “The Government” from political rapper Tom MacDonald.

Shania Twain Nearly Returns to the Billboard Hot 100

“Boots” lands on another two tallies in America, though it does not bring Twain to a new career high point on either of them. The cut kicks off its time at No. 36 on the Hot Country Songs chart, which looks at the most-consumed tunes in that style.

“Boots” fails to break onto the Billboard Hot 100, the list of the most-consumed cuts of any style in the nation, by only a few rungs. Instead, it begins its time on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart at No. 9. The 25-space ranking serves as an extension of the Billboard Hot 100 for tracks that have yet to reach the main roster. Technically, the cut’s arrival gives both Twain and Brown a new top 10 win on a Billboard chart, though not one that most artists are ecstatic to reach.
