Kane Brown Reveals Shania Twain Appears on His New Song, "Boots" - September 4

Kane Brown Reveals Shania Twain Appears on His New Song, 'Whose Bed My Boots Have Been Under'

By Georgette Brookes | Holler | August 25, 2026

Kane Brown spoke with Elaina Smith recently on the Backstage Country Uncut podcast (<--click for clip), talking all about his upcoming collaboration with Shania Twain.

Shania Twain’s iconic ‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?’ is an upbeat ditty about her unfaithful partner playing away. Originally written as a heartbreak ballad, Twain changed her mind and released the catchy fiddle-fuelled version in 1995. Now, over 30 years later, it seems there’s another version in the works.

“It’s the guy’s version,” Brown shares with Smith as he introduces the idea of this previously unknown project. “It’s not the same sound,” he goes on, “it’s some of her same melodies but then a whole different thing…you’re getting a completely different new song.”

The ‘Gorgeous’ crooner has recently been teasing the release of his next album. The project was supposed to be out earlier this summer but Brown spoke about how he’s pushed back the release to work on the concept and purpose behind the songs. It’s unclear if this project will feature on the album, but from the sounds of it, it’s not quite finished.

“She’s been working on her vocals,” Brown shared when Smith asked if it was a collaboration, “I haven’t heard it yet so I don’t know…I wouldn’t necessarily say she has a verse.”

Make no mistake, though, the Country music legend will add her stamp to the track. “It’s originally her song,” Brown says, “you’re gonna know Shania’s there.”

Just as he was about to leave, Brown was stopped and told that Shania Twain was trying to get hold of him. Brown went and hung out with her, discovering that she’d heard the demo and was happy to give her blessing to use her original song, kicking the project into motion.

The full episode with Kane Brown drops this Friday, 28th August. We’ll for sure be locked in to see what other gems Brown has up his sleeve.

Kane Brown Delays Upcoming Album Release, Explains Why Fans Will Have to Wait

“I’m really excited…I know I say this a lot, but this one is my favorites,” Brown said of the project.

Kane talks about "Whose Bed My Boots Have Been Under" at the 20:50 mark

While Kane Brown continues to recover from a golf ball injury that left him with 23 stitches and a “slight concussion” a few weeks ago, the country star has been keeping his attention on what’s next.

Brown recently opened up to Bobby Bones about the direction of his upcoming album, admitting that he went through a period where he “wasn’t really feeling the music,” which led him to push back the release date from this fall to the spring of 2027.

“I really want to focus on this album and just kind of…I’ve been all over the place with it, wanting to write songs or stories. Wanting it to sound old school, not just country, but different sounds, like 50s type music. And then I was been talking to people and they’re like, ‘Bro, your album doesn’t have to sound cohesive. You haven’t had one album sound cohesive. Why do it now?’ And I was like, ‘You’re right,” he recalled.

After spending some time figuring out what he wanted the project to sound like, the hitmaker said he’s now feeling much more excited about the direction his music is headed in. Brown also revealed that his next project will feature several outside songs that he believes have the potential to become hits.

“I’m in love with it now and we got a lot of outside songs. I don’t have a lot of outside songs. I think we got three or four now that are actually smashes. One of them is the one that I put up the other day. Yeah, I’m really excited…I know I say this a lot, but this one is my favorites.”

He then clarified that the album won’t necessarily be one of his most personal projects, but it will be a collection of songs that he genuinely loves and believes his fans will connect with just as much.

“I’m only going for hits,” he joked.

There will be at least one track, which he has previously teased, that takes a more personal approach as it was inspired by a song he grew up listening to, Shania Twain’s 1995 release, “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”

Next month, fans will be able to get their hands on his version of the track titled, “Whose Bed My Boots Have Been Under,” which serves as a response to the original story and even includes Twain on background vocals. (Click HERE to watch a clip of Kane performing the song.)

“It’s the guy’s version. The only thing personal with that with me is just I grew up to that song. I think Shania’s doing some backup vocals and all that,” he explained. “It’s not a copy at all, but there’s parts of the melodies in the song.”

Kane Brown currently has three remaining U.S. shows on the books for the year before taking a few months off and preparing to head down under for stops across Australia and Brisbane in January of 2027.

Kane Brown Teases Shania Twain Collab Is a ‘Guy’s Version’ of Her ‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under’

"You're getting a completely different, new song," Brown shared in an interview

By Jessica Nicholson | Billboard | September 1, 2026

Kane Brown is giving a classic 1995 Shania Twain hit a romantic, devoted twist — and has invited the five-time Grammy winner to join him on the new rendition.

Brown recently previewed a new song, “Boots,” a take on Twain’s “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under.” While Twain’s original was a scathing takedown of an unfaithful lover, Brown serves up a response from a committed lover’s perspective, with lyrics such as “Your lips are all that I’m kissin’/ When I’m gone, you’re all that I’m missin’.”

During a conversation with Elaina D. Smith on Backstage Country, Brown described the song as “the guy’s version” of Twain’s “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under.” “It’s not the same sound. It’s some of her same melodies, but then a whole different thing. So you’re getting a completely different, new song.”

He also described how the collab came about. “We were going to the ACMs, I was performing ‘Woman,’ and I said, ‘I’m gonna run into Shania,’ and I said, ‘We’re gonna do the song together.’ As I’m leaving, everybody’s like, ‘Yo, Shania’s trying to get a hold of you,'” he recalled. “So we went back and hung out with her in the green room. She had heard the demo, she hadn’t heard me on it yet. We had to also get her permission on the song. So she cleared it.”

On his social media pages, Brown also revealed the new collab is set to release on Friday (Sept. 4).

On Aug. 9, Brown previewed the song during his concert as part of Stir Concert Cove at Harrah’s Council Bluffs Casino & Hotel in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To date, Brown has notched a dozen No. 1 hits on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, while his most recent single, “Woman,” has reached the top 5 on the Country Airplay chart.

Twain’s original version of “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under” was included on her album The Woman In Me, and reached No. 11 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart in 1995.
